Thanks. I didn't realize that the marine park did not extend further west. Would explan the drag net fishing I observed at Playa Grandi a few years back. Almost caught in it shore diving from Allwest.

Thanks for the comment @tkaelin! For decades, the unofficial park boundaries began at Sunscape Curacao and extended all the way to Eastpoint. As of 2021, the official Curacao Marine Park area was written into law which created the opportunity for funding thus allowing infrastructure to be formed (staff, boats, assets, etc...).

All in all, this is great news for Curacao and the fringing reefs because it creates opportunity for expansion into the areas further west. But, the east is the essential area to start with because, due to currents, it feeds the rest of the island with new coral spawn all the way to Watamula and beyond!

Therefore, this is a MAJOR WIN for Curacao. Let's be optimistic now for new marine conservation laws and the future expansion/management of Curacao's amazing fringing reef system both on the south and northern sides!

LionsDive is the Best Eco Dive Resort in Curacao

As scuba divers we are inherently passionate about protecting our blue planet. We love diving vacation destinations that respect the environment so we can, repeatedly, experience spectacularly healthy coral reefs full of color and life. But we also appreciate when dive resorts and their on-site dive shops are seriously committed to evolving a “GREEN MISSION” without “blue and/or green washing it”. At LionsDive Beach Resort Curacao, an environmentally sustainable approach has been completely integrated into the daily resort operations and this is why they are one of the best eco-friendly dive resorts in Caribbean.
