Hey guys!

Just a quickie question:

I know you have to be 18 to do your dive master qualification but is that:

You have to be 18 to start your dive master

OR

You have to be 18 when you finish the course?

My birthday is in a month and i want to get the 15 min tread and stuff out the way, so i was wondering whether i can do those b4 i am 18 or not.

Just a thought!

AFAIK it is 18 to start the course.

I know you are all honest and good instructors, but could i be very sneaky.

What if i did the exercise - like 15 min tread, but got the instructor to sign me off on it after my 18th b-day (22nd april - incase you felt the urge to say happy b-day - only kididng!) would i get away with that or would i have to do that dreaded 400 metre in 6 minutes swim after my b-day as well???

I know 2 people certified under Naui who started their course before they were 18 but turned 18 before course ends.
Whether that was 'kosher' I'm not sure. They didn't appear to gain any more brain cells after their birthdays so maybe the certifier used some judgement.I think it is the date of certification that is most important.Sort of a pre-training.
I say go for it! I thought the treading was supposed to be 20 mins? Mine was.400m swim in 6 minutes???? Who does that?
Are they looking for olympic swimmers? My 400m was untimed but the 800m snorkel had to be done in 18 min.At 9 minutes for 400m snorkelling I'd like to meet the person who can swim it.See ya.gasman

The impatience of youth! Does she ever have a lot to learn, and it won't all be from books. By the time she grows from ScubaBaby to ScubaGirl, let's hope she's learned much more.

Abby,
Happy Birthday. 18 what a great age. Good luck with Dive Master. I'm sure you'll be a good one.

Why are you asking us? Ask the instructor.
