Hi there! My boyfriend and I are interested in diving in Indonesia during the rainy season (Dec-February). We will definitely go to Raja Ampat since it is the dry season but he was hoping to do his Dive Master training on the Gili Islands and is wondering how much the rainy season will affect his training and number of dives. Is it best to wait for the dry season or try the Philippines for a dive master program at that time of year? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

My dive buddy did his instructor on Lembongan in December several years back. No issues. I much prefer Lembongan to the Gillies, but YMMV. I've been diving on Bali several times in February, too. No issues with the weather.

Would your visa allow U2 to stay that long in Indonesia?
Philippines is another option especially coming from US. There are non-stop flights from LAX or SFO to MNL.
MNL to DPS(Bali) is not expensive by Cebu Pacific.
DM training in Puerto Galera.
