Hey guys I am a DM and wanting to get insurance. I searched online and there are a few insurance companies out there and which ones did you guys (DM or instructors) pick? My DM instructor told me to go search for Barlon Dive insurance and I did not find anything about it on google.

Have you guys heard of Barlon Insurance?

thx

Les:
Is there price/coverage differences like car insurances?
I think it's mostly just price differences.

Compare the prices here (you have to select an option to fill in the blank):
https://www.vbsecure.com/PL2006_07_enroll.htm
(Vicencia & Buckley -- PADI's primary US professional insurers)

With these:
https://www.barton.ca/group/padi_app_2006.htm
(Barton Insurance (Canada))

DM
==
Barton: CA$205
V&B: US$325

Instructor
=======
Barton: CA$313
V&B: US$588

Excess Liability ($1 million)
====================
Barton: CA$220
V&B: US$404

I believe the coverages are the same -- the basic is what PADI requires in both instances.

Personally, I'm going to take Barton -- V&B just seems way overpriced!

You mean PADI is just out to make money? I'm crushed!
Well, to add to your woes:

what PADI really stands for: "Put Another Dollar In"

What number do you call to talk to PADI? 1-800-PAY-PADI. (Yes, I am serious... try it if you don't believe me)

And you thought it was a coincidence that when you un-dyslexize the D and the I you get "PAID"!
