I am a newb to the board and am looking for Fins (preferably not strapped) for my size 14 feet. Looking forward to conversation on the board as well!

Welcome to ScubaBoard, now that you've joined us and learned the secret handshake and secret password, we'll let you into our secret vault of knowledge.

At the top of each page is a magic button "Forums" click that and the magic appears. . . Long lists of topics of everything a diver can do above and below the water. You'll find topics for Fins, masks, regulators. . . everything we might use. Scroll down that list till you find the areas for equipment. Read everything with the knowledge that everyone is an expert in the one style they bought. Only a few of us have been around since these different styles were introduced. These "NEW" designs are like new cars. . . sometimes they just look different than last years models, but work the same.

My choice of fins have been discontinued for about 10 years, but the water doesn't know that. A good friend wears a size 14 and likes ScubaPro's XL split fins. . . the foot pocket is more comfortable with wet suit boots on. Fit is the only thing that is important, but read the opinions in the equipment forums.

What do you need fins for with feet that big??

Seriously welcome to the forums!!

Jet Fins xl-xxl FTW

everyone here knows that I love ForceFins, the XXL will fit your foot just fine with booties. w/o booties then L. I wear a 13/14 depending on company and the XXL with bootie is good and the the L fits me great barefoot for warm water diving.

Glad you took it well! In all seriousness though I'd echo the others who suggested jets in xxl. The other fin you could try to locate are the turtles. Turtles are very popular with drysuit divers due to the large foot pocket. I don't know how long you've been diving but for a fin to fit it does not need to go all the way back to your heel. My rockets (which even the supers would be too small) that I dive only come back to right in front of the heel. That's how they're designed. I have one person in class now that bought her fins IMO way too big. The bottom of the pocket comes all the way back to her heel. SHe is finding it nearly impossible to pull the strap down and over to get them off. Hopefully they can be exchanged for a smaller size. And if you can get em with spring straps. Will be much easier getting off and on and more comfortable as well.

Congratulations and welcome to SB! This is the unlimmited source of diving information and sometimes oppinion with conjecture ofcoarse. All that said it has been a incredible source of help personally. Fins are awesome there are so many to pick from try as many as you can! If you dont already have a local dive shop, find one which you can trust and like. No subsitute for service locally. Your large foot will not be an issue as most companies offer many sizes. Choose fins according to the diving you plan to do and work best for YOU! If you buy something you dont like, sell it on e-bay or SB and move on! Personally own three sets of fins love them all! Scuba pro Twin Jets for diving wet probably my favorites, Aqua Lung Rocket II for dry suit diving. I also have Oceanic V12's nice fins for drift diving, just ordered a set of full foot Twin Jetts in the high viz yellow for vaction. If interested in the full foot version of the Twin jets "the older style" do it soon they have been discontinued. Good fins are not cheap! I am currently excited to dive the new Aqua Lung sling-shot fins. Good luck and have an awesome search for "YOUR" perfect fin! I love mine! Ha! CamG keep diving....keep training....keep learning!
