The Pirate Coast Dive Festival is scheduled for June 14 and 15, 2008, and will take place in Siesta Key, Florida. This event is being held to benefit Mote Marine Laboratory Dive Operations and produced by Red Tide Wear, LLC. www.piratedivefest.com
In addition to boasting the most biologically active aquatic systems in the United States, Southwest Florida maintains a phenomenal number of shipwrecks and reef systems that host tremendous marine life. Siesta Key, best know for its sugar white sands consistently ranked in the top ten beaches of the world, is the perfect place to hold this event.

This event will feature over 50 dive sports related exhibits under one giant tent at the edge of the Gulf of Mexico. In addition to the dive exhibits, there will be food vendors, beverage vendors, live entertainment, the Mote Marine Annual Reef Cleanup and Treasure Hunt, free educational seminars and thousands of dollars in prizes and raffles!
The Pirate Coast Dive Festival will be hosting 30+ ecological and science based talks available to all guests. Topics include: Whale Sharks in the Gulf of Mexico, Sharks of the Gulf of Mexico, Gulf Shipwrecks and ongoing archeological expeditions, Scientific Investigations into the deep water springs and sink holes of the Gulf of Mexico, Technical diving in the Gulf of Mexico and many more......
An underwater reef cleanup and treasure hunt will be held on the following Saturday for divers and captains. Thousands of dollars in prizes will be given away.
Siesta Key Beach, centrally located between Tampa and Fort Myers, is one of Sarasotas barrier islands and boasts the most convenient accommodations and access to local area attractions.
