The 9th Annual CHUM Claims the Comal Camping, Scuba Diving and Tubing trip is fast approaching!! Gather up your camping gear and descend into the Comal River with your CHUM and scuba buddies, group floats and the CHUM'O'PEDE, dinners and s'mores around the campfire...it's a CHUM scuba club tradition and you don't want to miss it! It should be awesome weather for camping!

For those who may not know, the Comal River is in New Braunfels and is a comfy 72 degrees year round. It's not deep, but does have a light current for some easy drift diving and tube chutes for the adventurous types. Plan on driving up Friday night, camping, waking up Saturday morning for an A.M. dive. After the dive, we can return to camp, dry out a bit, and then rent some tubes for a float down the river. Typically, at night we hang out around the campsite, but you can also head into New Braunfels or nearby Gruene to enjoy the nightlife. Sunday repeat the diving & tubing as desired. Come for all, or just part of the weekend. This is a great weekend trip for the whole family because it is close to Houston, and in my opinion, it's the best and most fun event all year long for non-divers!

Camping will be at Landa RV Park. If you would like to book a site, you must call Landa RV Park at 830-625-1211, and let Sandy know you want a campsite near the CHUM Scuba Club. We camp along the river, usually between sites 506-511, which are all relatively good sized. All you need to do is pick a site you fancy, and give them your name and credit card number to secure your spot, with the off-season rate of $20 per night! What this price will include is your campsite only. There will be an additional cost to rent tubes and ride the shuttle after tubing and diving, but you pay those on site.

A map of the campsites is here. Even if you select a site that is not along the river, or decide to stay in an RV or camper spot up the hill, you can always hang out with us, and then walk to your site when you're ready to hit the hay. Once you've booked your campsite, let me know what site number you are, so the list can be updated.

This is a classic CHUM event, and the 9th time going as a club! We welcome anyone to join us, lovers of the water, outdoors, good laughs, and yummy food...and even if you don't want to dive, come anyway and hang out with us.

So, who wants to roast marshmallows along the Comal with us on April 5th, 6th, and 7th, 2013?

This is coming up this weekend. Feel free to come join us for as much of it as works out for you. A few of us are gonna pop up to Georgetown on Sunday to check out the Blue Hole.

What a fun weekend. Can't wait till next year! Comal1.jpgcomal2.jpg
