I am a Mac user (and Palm PDA user). I recently purchased a Sherwood Wisdom computer and would like to use the optional "PC" software.

My Mac PowerBook runs OS X 10.3.3. And I also have MicroSoft's Virtual PC (XP). Anyone had any luck running Sherwood's PC software (or any other dive download programs) under Virtual PC? Any Mac-native programs out there?

As an option (and many ways preferred), I would like to know if there is any software for the Palm OS devices that would allow downloading from my dive computer. (I have a Palm T3.) Since the Palm is so portable, it would be ideal for examining dive data during my surface interval. (Course I would need to secure the PDA while diving!)

I look forward to any comments. Thanks!

I'm a Mac user as well. I do use the Suunto program verison 1.5 0 to download the data from my Mosquito to my Mac using Virtual PC 6 (latest version) and OS 10.1.5. I had to get a converter for the serial type interface of the Mosquito. So far it has worked just fine. I know of no Mac programs for dive computers, they seem to be all PC.

Hi, as far as Palm OS dive log take a look at this one:

http://www.ruizlog.com

I tried the demo version and like it enough to order the registration for it. The version 3 is great and will calculate your pressure groups based on the No-Decompression tables of your choice. The new version 4 even has a dive profile chart based on your depth and time. So far I am quite happy with this program and the support from them has been great.

Juan,

Thanks for the tip! I downloaded the Ruizlog beta 4.0. Nice looking program!

For me it would be perfect if it could interface with my Wisdom DC. One could review the previous dive's profile during the surface interval.

This program is clearly well thought out and looks good, too.

There's a program called Paladin that allows some DCs to be downloaded to PDAs. I used it to get from my Uwatec to my Palm IIIc. I now have a T3 also, and have not been able to interface the male USB connector to a serial adaptor to fit my download cable. The program will work with IR, as well as emulate the Uwatec mouse, but I can't get past the USB/serial problem.

Also, WLog is an excellent logging and download program.

Hey Peter glad you liked it, It is a well thought out program with more than enough different entries to rival the best log books. The preplanning mode and dive graph are nice touches to the program also. To date I have found no bugs or run across any kind of problems with the program and looks fantastic on my Sony CLIE in high resolution. Any inquiry I had was QUICKLY responded to by H Ruiz.

I just received my Sherwood Download SW for my Wisdom. I was a little anxious about installing it as I am a Mac user and this is a PC program. (I have no PC.)

With an assist from Microsoft's Virtual PC (6.1.1), I had no problem installing the SW on my G4 PowerBook. I connected the Wisdom using the USB cable and was able to download my dives! No problems. Whew.

The dive software could be a little faster and a little more user friendly, but at least I have my dive data! (Though I do have to fire up Windows on my Mac when I want to use the SW.)

Now if I could only download directly to my Palm PDA...
