Can you tell me where to get a new battery? I have an Oceanic Veo. I am at El Cid if there happens to be a shop around here. Thanks
It's a common battery. Any store that carries button batteries should have one.

Thanks Don. Do I just replace it? I wasn't sure if there was some type of seal that had to be done in a special way. Thanks

If you aren't comfortable changing the battery yourself, you could ask the dive op you are using where you might go to get the service done. The dive op should have a pretty good idea where to take it. Or maybe they will offer to help do it for you.

The oring on the cover is thin. You have to be careful with it. You should have a tool that came with the computer to remove the cover. A flat piece of metal with two prongs that fit into the holes on the battery cover. It will also work with some spikes on golf shoes.
If you do not have the tool you'll need a pair of fine point needle nose pliers. The cover only needs to turn a very small amount. It does not screw on as much as lock in. there are symbols on the cover showing a lock open and closed. That's all you need to turn it. The o ring also needs to be clean and free of dirt. Do not dry it if you don't have lube handy to re lube it. A hair on the o ring will cause it not to seal.

If your dive OP can't help you, I would go to Cozumel Scuba to have them do it for you. It's way back in the neighborhoods. Get the address from your dive op ( they know where it is) and get a cab. Have the cab wait! That said, we always carry spare batteries, O rings and the proper tools in our save a dive kit. It's saved us a few times.

The Pro Dive shop one block south of the square and one block off Melgar carries a wide assortment of dive computer batteries. If what you need is a common one like a CR2016 (that's what our Oceanics use) you can probably find them at Mega and Chedraui as well.

FWIW, one of the things on my Cozumel Prep List is to put new batteries in our dive computers whether they need it or not. You don't want a computer to die in the middle of a dive.

On our Oceanic computers the battery cover has a notch that fits a US quarter.

Neither Mega nor Chedraui carry these kinds of batteries; I went hunting for them last winter when the ones in my kitchen scale died and ended up bringing some from Canada. Have to admit, I never thought to look at Pro Dive. I also had to replace the battery in my computer transmitter last winter and the manual says you also need to replace the o-ring when doing so. I bought both a battery and O ring package at the Scuba Wholesale store on 5th just off 11 Ave. As I recall, it was fairly expensive, but then ScubaPro charges through the nose for everything.
