Hi Everyone,

I'm temporarily displaced to Dahlgren, VA (about 20 miles from Fredericksburg) for the next four months and looking for people to dive with. I'm a complete addict and need to get wet quick! Anyone have any suggestions for shops and or places to dive? Need some help here!!

Thanks!
Zach

There are a lot of active clubs in the area. I am with the Richmond Dive Club and our season is just starting up. Our website is Richmond Dive Club -=- Lets Go Divin'! Feel free to come to one of our monthly meetings and see what we are about. There is no pressure to join, and we have had some great guest speakers, and the club meeting are free and open to the public.
Another group in the Virginia Beach area is the VBTech group. I have gone to their meetings and have had a great time, and I am trying to go on the tech/dir path. Every year in Jan or Feb they do an into to tech day for divers considering the tech route. Their website is VBTech Home Page they are a great group, with no fee to join and plenty of great people. For links to more great shops and clubs in the area here is a link we maintain.

Let me know if I can help you with anything.
All the best,

We use the Rappahannock West Quarry, at I-95 & the Rappahannock River, for our open water checkout dives. There are boats, truck, bus, car, etc.
Access is managed by the Virginia Outdoor Center, just down the road from the quarry. $10 per diver/day. Temp was 48 at 30' this weekend.

That's like only 30 minutes away. I'll try and give them a call and see if I can't get access. Thanks mmmeenehan! I'm dry so the temp doesn't bother me. You wouldn't need any help with your classes would you? I'm looking to get some experience with new divers to help out when I pursue the IDC.
