Interested in taking the PADI Tec 40 course over the winter in Florida and would appreciate a recommendation (or two) on good dive centers that also have full range of rental gear. (Would need some rental gear as flying down from Ontario, Canada) Also, some geographic context (ie weather/water conditions) for dive center recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks

Florida is a large state with many dive centers-- where are you looking at taking your training?

Yes it is a BIG state. I can recommend Dive-aholic, Rob Neto, in Marianna (the Panhandle) or 600 miles south, Dan at Horizon Divers in Key Largo...and lots more good instructors in between.

Thanks for the feedback. Point taken re size of state and multitude of instructors. However, not familiar at all with Florida and hoping to work up a short list based on SB community.

Have you not scheduled the class yet? If you haven't scheduled the class, I would find an instructor first and then figure out dive shops after that. Most tech instructors in Florida are not associated with a dive shop.

What kind of teaching style works for you?
What do you want to get out of the class?
What are your long term goals with diving after this class?
What kind of experience do you currently have?

More questions once you respond to these.
