Hi,
I tried the dive buddy locator, complete with the latitude and longitude. The genius crammed inside my computer told me to enter only letters. I checked the coordinates and tried again, without the letters. The little guy -there's probably not room for more than one- sent me to northern China, just east of Mogolia. I tried yelling out the 'West' and the 'North' part. I still got sent to the wrong part of the globe. I think he's just being ornery now.
So here's my question: Anybody have any experience negotiating with one, or possibly many tiny geniuses? I think he'd probably cave if we offered more space, or better working hours, but it's an either/or with me.
Anyway, I'm a few blocks from Ogden Point, and I'll dive any kind of entry, my PADI cert is Rescue, and I have my SDI beginner's Nitrox. My preference of dive is anything not too stupid. Also, I don't plan on diving in mainland China.

Hi Bill,

Welcome to the board! I tried the BC coordinates and experienced the same problem you had. Sorry for the frustration. I've reported the post for some of our other staff members who are more knowledgeable in this area to look at. Hopefully they'll get it resolved soon. In the meantime, try checking out our regional forums to find other divers in your area.

Longitude in the Western Hemisphere is - (minus)

Like where I am now, it's -69 degrees (in the Dominican Republic) Which would be 69 degrees WEST Longitude.

Yep. I missed the minus when I looked up the coordinates and tried it. Further research gave me the following, which worked:

Latitude: 48° 29' 8" N (deg min sec), 48.4855° (decimal), 4829.13N (LORAN)
Longitude: 123° 19' 14" W (deg min sec), -123.3205° (decimal), 12319.23W (LORAN)
