I am going on a NJ wreck dive Sunday 7/13/03 and I need a buddy to dive with. There are 4 other divers on the boat so as of right now I'm the 5th wheel. The dive boat is the "Sea Lion" out of Brielle, NJ. Lakeland Divers has chartered the boat and I got on the trip through them. The boat leaves the dock at 2 PM. The destination is the Venturo on the Sea Girt Artificial Reef. If you can make this dive I could really use a buddy. I am a safe and compenant diver who took his training seriously. Please respond to this post and leave an email address or email me at mpetroski@creativewaste.com and I'll fill you in with the rest of the details. If 7/13 is no good, I am also doing a NJ wreck dive on 7/26 and another on 8/10. Let me know if you can do any of these dates as well. Thank you, Marc.

Wish I could, Marcos, but boats and I do not mix. Trust me, you would not want me to be your buddy. :)

Why not ask to triple up with one of the pairs if you don't find anyone?

Hi Sue,

Thanks for your response. I'm sorry to hear you don't like boats. I guess you get sea sick? There are ways to minimize that you know. Going triple with another diving pair will be my last resort, but it will be better for all if I show up with a dive buddy. I would hate to be a burden to another diving pair. I would also like to avoid being shunned underwater being that I am the third wheel. Hopefully I will find someone by then. I did just get an email from someone who seems interested. Hopefully he'll commit.

P.S. If you don't like boats then where do you go scuba diving at???

Hey Marcos. Have you tried your local dive shop? The one out by me has a buddy matching service. You fill out a form online with things like certification level, special intersts etc... and they give you contact info for other divers in your area who are compatible. Might be worth looking into. The dive season up here is too short as it is

I do OK on boats, but only in calm water. I have made several failed attempts at diving NJ wrecks. It was ugly.

I have tried everything under the sun to help matters, and many things help, but nothing can get me through a Jersey dive that's more than a mile offshore.
One of these days, I'm going to have to try one of the closer offshore wrecks.
