Just wondering...how is the diving at Laurel? I have been boating there and always loved the lake.

I've dove there several times. Mostly near the dam. Some dives were at Craigs creek. Diving along the riprap near the dam is kind of boring since there is nothing there. Craigs creek was pretty interesting and where I had the best viz other than in Manatee Springs Florida. That particular dive the first 15 was like descending through milk. The water was really white and the viz was about 18 inches. I was really new to diving and was a bit concerned about what I had gotten into when I passed through the 15 foot mark the water was crystal clear absolutely beautiful and amazing how far I could see. All kind of stuff i.e. junk down there.

The water tends to be pretty cool below 50 feet near the dam. Went there in August a few years back. Temps in the mid 90's with full sun so I was wearing a 3mil sull suit. Later found out that the temperature at 75 feet was 39*F.

Thanks jbd for the info. I will be diving at the dam this weekend to complete my AOW and was just wondering what to expect. I have been on the lake many times as a boater but never as a bubble maker.

I am not to excited about the cold temps down deep seeing that my last dives were in Cozumel where it was in the mid 80's.
