Thanks, I may have been over vtipping, $20 for a 2 tank dive up to 15 miles out, $25 to $30 gor 2 tank dive 21 miles out.
Still with fresh fruit, changing gear out, and hsuling to and fro my truck is more than my monies worth. Plus the crws sre really great guys.

Not sure you overtipped - on my last trip in August, I tipped $20 a boat trip. That included 3 recreational trips and one tec trip(deco on the SG while others did a double dip) with the same charter. The crew loaded tanks, gave us great briefings, socialized, handed out cold fruit drinks, and knew when to help and asked if they could help when was nice on the deco dive. I usually tip 15 to 20 for a half day trip.

$10 a tank for local dives is my baseline; I've never gone below but I've definitely gone up for exceptional service.

Depending on the boat, in the Keys we operators often get the hairy eyeball when we touch someone else's gear without permission. It makes us hesitant to do so. The tanks should have been loaded for you, they should have steadied you to the jump in point, and they should have helped you on with fins, or kept you steady when you put your own fins on.

I personally don't want someone changing out my rig between dives, and will tip better when they don't. I don't want someone rinsing my rig, all I want is a place to throw my gear in a bag so I can take care of it the way I see fit.

Heh. On one of my recent dives with Rainbow Reef the deck hand changed out my gear for me during the SIT. Fortunately he told me about it so I was able to tell him I had already switched it! Actually I would be quite okay with someone taking more of the work out of my dives - I just didn't expect it and had changed my gear over myself.

FWIW, I tip $20 to the boat for a two tank trip. If there's a guide with me, they get $20 as well. If the boat runs aground, nobody gets tips.

I'm sure they loved you for it and look forward to seeing you again and you will continue to get excellent service.
