I'm planning to buy either a TruWest, SwimOutlet, or Surf Fur parka, but I don't know what size I should get in order to be able to: wear it over a 7mm, change inside of it, and keep warm! Are they roomy enough to get my usual size? Do I go a size up? I'm afraid that if I go a size up it will be ginormous, and it won't really keep me warm because Arctic blizzards will go down the neck and freeze me.

Advice appreciated.

I've found that the TruWests (at least) were snug in the shoulders. Especially for use with a 7mm, I'd go up a size at least

Thanks, fisheater.

I sold my TruWest in favor of a chammyz. Why? It is warmer, even wet it stays warm.
This is what I bought

Teamcasa, I want something long enough to keep me covered when I change. The Chammyz looks too short to keep everything covered.

I ordered the Surf Fur from Leisurepro. What made me decide to go with that one is that it's made so that you can change under it. Don't want any parts exposed!

what do you think of the surf fur? I'm in the shop mode and any comments would be so helpful!

I love my Surf Fur. Right now I'm in Cozumel, and I get a little chilly on the boat. I put it on, and everyone thinks I'm crazy because it's in the 80s here, but it keeps me nice and warm so that I don't get too cold on the second dive or on the trip back to the hotel. Another thing I like about it is that it's fleece on both sides. Some of the parkas are nylon on the outside, and I can see advantages to that, but I like that both sides of the Surf Fur are soft.

They run pretty true to size, so if you want something roomy, order a size up. The first one I got didn't give me enough room to change under it, and I returned it and got a larger size. I ordered it from Leisurepro and didn't have to pay shipping for the second one or to return the first one. The only problem with the larger one is that the hood is way too big; I can't see when I put it on.
