Did a search or two and found nothing. Do any of you use a Dive Alert* and if you do do you leave it on your hose or do you just leave it your pocket and just attach it for emergencies.
*The above water kind not the under water signaling device

i use it. it's been on my hose but i think i am going to put it in my pocket. btw, although loud it won't reach very far against the wind as i have learned the hard way. don't leave your smb at home.

I use one. I keep it on the hose all the time. I figure that if I ever need it in an emergency, I don't want to have to find it in a pocket and put it on the hose. I also carry a smb and mirror.

FWIW, I recently started carrying a whistle and spare car key on a necklace under my wetsuit. My reasoning is that if I ever have to ditch my gear (as might be necessary if I have to tow an injured diver to shore), I want to be able to make noise and to get to my cell phone when I reach shore and/or to drive the victim to help. I'd feel real stupid if I got to shore with the victim and then had to sit and wait there becuase my car key was in my BCD pocket.

On the hose all the time plus SMB on the hip d-ring and a metal mirror in the BC cummerbund pocket.
They've all come in useful at some time. It may only be 1 dive in 150 but when you need them it's generally in a hurry.

thanks the reason i keep mine in my pocket is it makes my already too long hose way too long

Inflator hoses come in different lengths, why not buy one that is the correct length for your situation?

They attach nicely, either between your wing/BC inflator and the LP hose connecting to it, or else at the end of your drysuit LP hose. It therefore makes no sense to keep this in a pocket.

What you should keep in a pocket is a spare mask, a jon line, a reef hook, and a surface marker buoy.

currently between jobs so cannot get ahold of shorter hose
