I have a Dive Alert horn attached to a Sherwood AVID BC. Will a Zeagle Octo-Z fit in line with the Dive Alert without having to make any changes to the hoses or the BC?

The current regulator system and hoses are Zeagle.

If your BC has a standard inflator connector it will not connect to the OCT-Z. The OCT-Z uses the same connector as the TUSA DUO AIR, ATOMIC SS1 and the SCUBAPRO AIR 2 which are not compatable with the standard inflator connector.

There is an adapter that connects to the standard infator connector and allows the OCTO-Z to be connected to the inlfator hose. I do not have any idea if this setup will allow enogh volume to breath from in an emergency situation. (see link below.)
Inflator Adapter - Standard Inflator Male to Tusa DuoAir Female

The OCTO-Z will also allow you to keep it with your regs and beable to flush the inside of your BC bladder with water.

By the time you buy the adapter, you may be better off buying a new dive alert and selling the old one. I got one of the adapters so I could fit an tire fill valve on the end of my BC hose (Atomic) and it ran me about $30. Another option would be to attach a second BC hose to your first stage with the correct fitting for the dive alert you currently own. No adapter needed, but then you have another hose to worry about. Personally, I would buy a new one and sell the old one.
