Any plus size female divers out there using the Diva LX please let me know what you think of it. I normally wear a 3x and am looking at the Diva L (large...i cant believe it would be just a large). Anyhow, my LDS carries it but I want to get some feedback before I go and once again make an ass out of myself trying something on at the shop.

The Diva LX is an excellent BC. However prior to purchasing any BC there are a number of factors you need to look at.

1. What type of diving are you going to be doing? Warm water or Cold Water. Is this BC appropriate for your type of diving?

2. What type of exposure protection are you going to be wearing? 3mm, 5mm, 7mm or drysuit. Try it on over that suit.

3. How much weight do you need to wear with each type of suit.

4. This BC is weight integrated it can handle 20 lbs of removable weight and probably another 10 lbs of non removable (trim) weight.

5. How much lift does this BC have and will it keep your head out of the water?

Just because a BC is made for women does not mean it is the right BC for every woman. Check out everything very well before you spend your hard earned cash on something that may not be right for you.

I am a larger sized female, I also, usually, wear about a 3X in most clothes. I even wear a 4X T-shirt, because I like the coverage. I wear a Diva LX large, I also had doubts before I bought it. I had to buy it sight unseen because the dive shops in my area didn't have the large size. Although, I did get to try on the next smaller size and it almost fit, so I figured the large would probably be a safe bet. The LDS where I bought mine promised me if it didn't fit they would give me my money back. I have now put 14 OW dives on mine and several pool dives before that to get used to it. I even got to drop 10 lbs. of weight in my bc. I found out that it really is true that a well fitting bc makes a difference in how much extra weight you have to carry.

If the dropped weight wasn't reason enough to rave about the Diva LX, everything about it's fit is fantastic for me. If it doesn't seem to fit right "off the rack" (and your salesperson doesn't know it) there are size adjustments on the sides, you might have to look for them they tend to hide under the back padding a little. Just make sure you fasten them back real well. If you look at the SeaQuest website (www.sea-quest.com) you will find their fitting chart. This BC and the lower end Eva (sp?) are the 2 ladies BC with the largest sizes (inches wise).

I have seen some of your other post and I understand how you might feel somewhat frustrated about trying on the Diva LX, but I say try it. If it doesn't fit right the Eva might fit better, I think it is even larger (inches wise) then the Diva LX. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles, just a good basic BC, but if it fits better that's what really matters and it is cheaper. When did we larger gals ever get a price break.

I could continue to rave on, but that would make this a very long post. Opps, too late it is already a very long post. You can't guess I really love my Diva LX. By the way, you can PM me if you have any specific questions that my rave didn't touch on or you just want to "chat".

I don’t know about the Diva but I purchased a Libra a few months ago. My bust is about a 42 D and I where a size 20/ 22 top, most of my weight is below my waist and stops at my knees. I am short waisted so many bcs I tried on did not adjust snug enough at the shoulders. The Libra fit great in street clothes but I was a little concerned about layering a john and a shortie, 6.5. Anyway I decided that the fit was perfect everywhere else that I could adjust the waist if I couldn’t get the buckle to close fully suited. I would just add extra webbing to the ends or replace the entire webbing to a length that would fit. Now I know the Libra doesn’t have a cumber but I have seen cumber extenders at my ldrs. I hope this helps. It’s not quite what you are looking for but if you find something that fits everywhere but can use a little tweeking don’t discard the idea try to think around the problem ask someone who dives, and you trust, if you can make adjustments. Webbing is easy to find.

It sounds like I'm a similar size to you Mtdivegirl. I have a Dive LX size large, and it fits beautifully both in and out of the water. I absolutely love it!

Peace,
Cathie
