Hi, just about to go off on a diving holiday and I was wondering about cameras. I just want to get one of those cheap disposable cameras that you see for 15 bucks. Is it worth getting one or are they so bad that you might as well get nothing?

Firstly - welcome to the gang.

You might want to check out this post and you can find others by doing a search with the keyword "disposable".

I have got some good results in the 10-15 foot range - after that forget it! But they do go deeper....

Also a lot of places will now hire out cameras at reasonable rates if you want to have a play without shelling out loads of dosh.

Enjoy your trip and let us know/see how you get on.

I havn't had much luck at all with disposable cameras even just snorkeling. Went to Cabo and St Thomas using a disposable and wasn't very happy with the results so I finally decided to get a new camera and housing. I can't wait to try it out. Here's some pics I took with disposables if you wanna check them out. I actually found a octopus snorkeling and was able to get a pic of it but he blended in pretty good with the rocks so he's kind of hard to see.
