Ok, I know the frog kick is the preferred method of propulsion... and the regular flutter kick is non-existent, hence the modified flutter... I was wondering which kick is used to, say, "sprint" to a diver that needs help? The frog seems to be slower than the flutter.

Just wondering if there are any other kicks out there that may be more efficient and faster than the traditional flutter. (Or are you just supposed to frog kick faster?)

Well, it all depends on the fin. I have a pair of Tusa Imprex fins that I used for quite a while. Frog kicks worked pretty well with them, but when I needed to motor the flutter was definately more powerful. However I borrowed someone's Jets one day and I was cruising around via frog-kick. When I needed to motor at one point; I instinctly switched to a flutter kick, and found it _less_ powerful than a frog with those fins.

So... depending on what fin you are using, it may be designed to provide a frog kick as the power kick, or a flutter.

The frog kick is a lot more powerful than the flutter kick if you have the proper fins and knows how to kick them.

The modified flutter is only used when you can't do a frog kick because of the environment. And it's a lot less powerful.

You shouldn't have to sprint to your buddy for more than a few yards anyway...

If you are fairly close to your buddy, you should not have to "sprint". I use a frog or mod frog for everything with no problems.
