stick with 'macro lens'
If we're picking nits here, the correct term for what's colloquially known among hobby photogs as a "diopter" is "close-up lens" or "close-up filter". However, since the power of the lens is expressed in diopters, the unit of measure has taken over as a term for the lens. "I used a +5 diopter" versus "I used a +5 diopter close-up lens".
A macro lens is not the same as a close-up lens. While a close-up lens screws into the filter threads of a standard lens and provides closer focus, a macro lens is a photographic lens able to focus to 1:1 magnification. Lower magnification lenses - correctly called "close-focus lenses" - have also been called "macro" lenses. A true macro lens will also be optimized for best image quality at the near end of its focus range, while standard photographic lenses traditionally have been optimized for best quality at some distance.
