Hi all.

Newbie photographer here. Specific for macro. I have a Olympus TG 6 and generally I’m very very happy about the quality and shots of macro/nudi.
However, I have been considering getting a subsee +10 diopter. I guess I’m considering it so that I’m able to click from a bit far and still have great details on the magnification/ shot.
Right now, when I’m shooting nudis, I’m practically touching it being 1 cm away from the subject. This is easy when nudibranch or any other subject is slow moving and it’s in a relatively easy to shoot place(as I’m not in a difficult corner/spot)

Please share in your experiences and I would appreciate all the advice.

A diopter lets a lens focus closer than it otherwise would. The TG-6 lens can already focus right down to the port, so it wouldn't give you anything. What you're looking for is a teleextender - a teleconverter that fits onto the front end of the lens, rather than between a lens and a camera body, but to my knowledge no such device exists for underwater use. Your basic requirement is to get more working distance for macro, but unfortunately this means you'll need to change cameras, at least to something like a Sony RX100 VI or VII, or better yet an interchangeable lens camera with a long macro lens, but this is a very expensive proposition.

If your problem is getting strobes into tight spots, consider getting a Kraken/Weefine LED ring flash - it mounts right onto the lens opening, so you don't have any bulky protrusions.
