Dining out in Sabang?

    We are scheduled to dive with Frontier in Mid April, (provided ANYONE is going anywhere by that time:shakehead:) and it has been a couple of years since we were last there. We typically depend on the large assortment of restaurants for supper, and I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations at this time? We particularly like Philippine food, especially bulalo, if I spelled that right, and I was wondering what was currently available over there. Any suggestions?:coffee: Thanks for your help.

    When were you there last ? We like the restaurant in Steps and Garden, where we usually stay, for Philippine food, or Papa Freds. Tamarind has decent food too, but there were too many smokers for us last time we were there. North Vancouver is pretty much a smoke free environment outside private property so the difference is quite noticeable.

    As I mentioned above, it has been a couple of years, and I know things tend to change. One of my favorites, the Blue Ribbon, has moved to Anilao, for example:rolleyes: So, I was wondering what is new or recommended recently. We are also partial to oriental food, which was hard to find the last time we were there.

    I was there in October last year; there were Korean restaurants everywhere.

    My favorite restaurants in Sabang are Tamarind, Papa Fred's, El Galleon, Angelyn's (for seafood), Big Apple has pretty good mid-day food options, and 50 Bar (at Atlantis) for late evening drinks.

    Angelyn's is my go-to spot in Sabang when I don'twant to spend for El Galleon, I like their location and the rooms are a good value IMO. Their dive-op is fine, haven't had any issues with them, do be aware that they tend to host a lot of chinese and korean divers (not a problem, just be aware that you may have divers in your group with little to no English).

    IMO, their breakfast can be a bit lacking....sometimes American breakfast options not in stock, but I do enjoy their Filipino breakfasts. A nice bonus of Angelyn's restaurant is their seafood. You can, of course, order fish off their menu, but they will also prepare any other seafood you bring in. There are a few seafood vendors along Sabang, if you see something you want (like a nice big snapper or prawns), go ahead and get an and the cooks at Angelyn's will cook em up. (for a small charge of course, but usually overall cheaper than simply ordering off the menu). I've always found their staff to be courteous and friendly, though sometimes not the most proactive LOL.

    I have tried few restaurants in Sabang last year with my wife and daughter. By far, the best food was served at El Galleon (you must try their penne alla boscaiola, best comfort food ever!!)
    They do Indian buffet once a week which looked decent either.

    We found Tamarind quite over-rated, and other restaurants were okay but nothing that I would remember of.
