While the kit lens for the 70 is indeed better glass, you also pay more for it. 1299 vs 999.

Canon seems to have better color management software, particularly when shooting reds.

Nothing against Canon, I would kill for a 1D! used one on a trip once, bad idea ;)

Canon lenses are top notch!

Anyway I got a digital rebel for some land stuff here in Japan! I was not all the happy with it!

Gave it to my wife!

The rebel is a nice camera and produces very good results But it is much slower at releasing the shutter than my Fuji S2, The other day I had a chance to use a D70. WOW very fast! faster than the S2! shutter realize is instantaneous.

may be my next camera.!

just my thoughts

I think you can't go wrong with both cameras (glass, lens choices, camera handling, image sensor and image rendition) but the write speed of the D70 absolutely creams the 300D. For me that would push the D70 over the Rebel. As of today the D70 in a Nexus housing would be my weapon of choice. The 300D in an Aquatica housing would be second. But I await with interest for the Olympus EVOLT E300... ;)

Dr,

I too have a Digital Rebel and am thinking hard on the A300. Have you had any problems... I like what I see so far but haven't actually seen one or talked to anyone that owns one. Hopefully this changes today. Any info good or bad would be much appreciated.

Not Dr, but I love mine (A300). Had a line up problem but the tray was fixed and all works well now.

In case your on the edge about Canon products, now is a great time to buy! Canon is offering $100 rebate plus a chance to double or triple rebates. Might want to chack that out.
