I went to ScubaToys to try on BCs. Tried the Zena, felt constricted, tried the Transpac, liked it okay, but big $ difference. Liked the Brigade, am planning to buy... then I saw and ad for the new "woman's BC" from Zeagle, the LaZer.

So before I plunk down the Amex... anyone know what the differences/similarities are between the Brigade and LaZer?
Thx!

Dont see anything about a LAZER anywhere.

It is brand new. Just out in this month scuba diving.

The Lazer was called the Ladies Stiletto in the dealers 2006 price list.

It has all the same features of the mens Stiletto, but has a shorter pack and the weight pockets have been repositioned a little higher to accommodate the female figure. It looks very much the same outwardly.

The Zeagle recreational BCs are shown here, except the new Lazer.

wish they would have come out with it sooner. My wife traded in her Ranger LTD for being too manly for a MARES Kaila which I dont really know much about. She seems happy so oh well..

Wait until ScubaToys gets them in stock, then go check them out for yourself. There's no substitute for trying it on. ;)

I was at Scubatoys last week and they had just received their shipment of Lazers. I tried both the Lazer and the Zena on. The Zena was only an after thought, because I really liked the setup on the Lazer. On paper and in reading reviews I had my mind set on the Lazer. It incorporated everything I was looking for in a BC. With that being said, trying one on is the only real litmus test. When I tried on the Zena, all the misgivings I originally had about it went out the window. I didn’t care that it did not have the pockets like the Lazer had or that it had a vest rather than a cummerbund. The Zena was so comfortable; almost like wearing a second skin. I ordered mine that day.

As DiveMaven stated, there really is no substitute for trying one on.

scubabirdie, did you notice what ScubaToys price was for the Lazer? It's not listed on their website yet.

Thx!

Sorry, I did not inquire on any prices. I would imagine it would be the same price as the Stiletto, since it is just the ladies version of that BC. Give them a call though, they are always more than willing to answer any questions.

Followup:
I went to ScubaToys yesterday and sat down with Kip to review the differences between these two BCDs.
  • Lazer has slightly lighter fabric on the straps, same fabric as the Brigade on the bladder
  • Lazer has a small piece of fabric sewn to the side of the bladder with a plastic snap connector to hold the bladder close to the straps
  • Lazer's cummerbund section is wider, so it hangs a little lower over the hipbones than the Brigade, but is cut up in the back over the hips
  • Lazer has smaller pockets
  • Lazer has no crotch strap option
  • Lazer has small lumbar pad sewn to the back
  • Lazer does not have the rolldown pocket

I purchased the Brigade, with the yellow thingies. Took it in my pool this afternoon to give it a runthru. Love the way I can hang sideways with no roll! Will be back in the pool to investigate positioning the trim pockets on the upper tank strap, as my husband found his more comfortable that way.

Now to plan a trip to give it a REAL runthru! :D
