What about the TUSA XPERT FULL FOOT SPLIT FINS? i saw these on a few sites, but was wondering what everyones opinion is on tusa fins. are these low quality, or are there any problems that people are aware of? also, is there a big difference between regular fins and split fins?

yes, there is a fair amount of difference between split and paddle fins. Some people love splits and some people hate them. It's something else you should research and ideally try both before you buy either.

If you want many hours of reading, the posts on this board will keep you busy on the topic of Splits vs. Paddle fins... Both camps have their opinions and reasons... of course we all know Paddle fins are the better choice  LOL

Aloha, Tim

If you plan on doing a lot of diving/snorkeling from a boat, the split tusa that you named should be fine. Last year in a famous scuba magazine in a gear review they did quite well. Here is a link to the review:

But like some other said, if you have to walk to get to the dive/snorkel site, you are way better with open heal.

The biggest thing with split fins is that you don't feel the same pressure, a lot less in fact, then with a regular paddle fin.

p.s. if you don't want to invest much for the moment, for the money, they seem to be the best.
