I've been committed to Olympus/OM Systems for well over a decade. In the past few months, I became somewhat disillusioned with the OM-1's focusing, especially in water with particulates and, above water, in rain or snow. I went deep into the full-frame rabbit hole, pretty much narrowed to the A7RV or the R5ii, and was girding my loins for a difficult conversation with the CFO. Tariffs appear to be sparing me the trouble. I know that the OM-1ii has better focusing capability than the OM-1, but how much? Does anyone have experience with both on which they'd care to comment?

Also, does anyone's experience suggest that the Mark ii is actually not 100% simpatico with the Nauticam OM-1 housing?

Thanks much,

My above water take is that they are quite similar in autofocus at least with the longer lenses. I haven't tried it in the AOI housing to see if it all works but according to AOI it should.

I feel like my MkII has slightly better focus performance in general than my MkI; could just be sucker's bias. I'm more confident about the subject detect- MkII is noticeably better for me with birds and animals topside, but since the algorithm isn't set up for us divers I haven't found as much of a difference underwater. I'm also in the AOI housing so I can't comment on the Nauticam.
