I stopped by Diver's Supply to see what was new. They are now distributing a wing that is (in my very limited experience based) opinion a new wing of death. I have never seen anything like it. The inflator hose is about 4 miles long and the bladder is not looking too good to me. The whole thing looks to me like a disaster waiting to happen. The good thing is you can throw the inflator hose out to someone instead of throwing a float on a line.

TEN "D" rings... TEN!
And that's just on the shoulder straps!
and FOUR dump valves... count 'em, FOUR!
Now that's even too far afield from DIR for me!
I notice there's a backplate thrown in there as an afterthought.. doesn't look like the harness is running through it at all...
Whew!
Remarkable...

Which brand/model are you two speaking about?

Stainless steel back plate, 2 stainless link rings, and 10 stainless D-rings. Comes complete with all hardware for single or double tanks. BC provides rear inflation with 70lbs of lift and is weight integrated with a capacity of 14lbs per pocket. Made of 1000 denier Cordura this BCD features a removable crotch strap, chest buckle, and four dump valves making it the ultimate diving machine.

Good Lord! They call it the ultimate diving machine, well they are right, because you would need a commercial license just to operate the damn thing! Let's see, 70lbs of lift for singles? It says that you can add up to 14lbs of weight per pocket, but with all the wieght from the SS backplate, the 10 d-rings, the two link rings, and all of the other crap on there, who would need 28lbs additional? And you too can have all of this for only a little over $700!!!! What a steal! No thanks.

ROFL...does it come with a body recovery team and a coffin included in the price? You may need it when all those damn attachment points catch you on a wreck...

Hmmm.....it does make one wonder if the designers of gear such as this are actually divers. Or even soliciting the input of experienced divers who would be the potential market.

Bought a piece of crap early in our diving careers before we found out how to "Do It Right."

This piece of crap is to pray on those poor unsuspecting souls that don't know any better and haven't figured it out or haven't been to this Board yet.

Eventually they will come around after some expensive lessons.

This monstrosity looks like it was designed to appeal to the "I want to look like a tech diver" crowd. The "Heck, if it has more than 5 d-rings it has to be good" types...

Surprising they didn't make a Batman style utility belt to go with it that comes covered in suicide clips..
