Anyone dove the East Pass Jetty in Destin lately?

I heard that the underwater landscape has really changed since the hurricane. Heard that the gradual slope is gone and that there are several small dropoffs until you reach what used to be the point.

Can anyone confirm any of this?

Who'd you hear that from?

We dove Destin Jeddies 2 weeks after the 'Cane and there was more beach, making for less jeddie at the begginning and most of the landmarks were covered in sand(sink/trough/anchor/ect). The gradual slope is still there and no dropoffs to speak of...

SeaYoda and I dove it again last month and its looking alot like it did pre-Ivan now. The landmarks are uncovered and the beach has receded back to where it was...

Scuba Tech was who originally had heard this if I remember correctly.

Thanks for the info. Hate to hear that there's even more beach now to walk! :)

Depth still about 55 feet at the point?

The depth is about the same 55' or so. A section of asphalt has been exposed near the anchor - maybe from the original bridge? Things are looking pretty normal with a little trash from the storm here and there. The viz is a little off - things were silted over after Ivan so it may take some time to get top viz back.
