These Toads were plentiful on the jetties. I have looked in the Humann books and can't find a fish that has the cirri above the eyes. Does anyone know what manner of fishes are these?

Tom - Best I can figure is they are Gulf Toadfish, Opsanus phobetron.

I posted this in your Panama City thread last week, guess you didn't see it :wink:

Very common on inshore, beach, and bay areas around the northern Gulf Coast. I see em everywhere.
 
I think it's definitely Opsanus phobetron, perhaps a youngster or a local variety. I've never noticed the cirri on them either, but the rest of the fish is sure a mark 1 mod 0 gulf toadfish.
