Has anyone been to the Destin Jetties since all the storms and resultant beach erosion?

I haven't been able to make it out yet. I have some friends from The Scuba Shop in FWB who are doing a night dive Saturday, and a afternoon dive on Sunday. I hate it that I can't go with them. I will ask them about conditions and report back with what they tell me.

Glen, Walter said on our dive this AM that you and maybe SeaYoda were meeting up for a night dive tomorrow night at Destin Jetties, is that not the case? I was thinking about chumming in.

If they're not going, I'll dive the Jetties tomorrow night with ya. Or if you guys wouldn't mind me tagging along, I'd love to dive with you guys.

We have an open water student that didn't finish at the springs so we're meeting her at 9:30 Sunday morning. Will be coming down tomorrow afternoon.

Reason I haven't posted anything about it is because I forgot when we were talking last week that I have a community event all day Saturday. Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce has Dog Daze all day Saturday at The Landing. Any dog lovers come on out....should be over 1,000 dogs and owners there again this year. My business is a sponsor of the event so I have to be there all day!

So, I am tied up Saturday and Sunday....DANG! And the weather looks soooo good for this weekend. Becky, who owns the Scuba Shop in FWB called me about going with them on Saturday....I think she has a class doing a night dive. I was going to go and take pictures but realized Dog Daze is this weekend. So, all that being said I am sure they will be out there diving...but I won't.

Now, IF you guys do anything Sunday night let me know....I should be able to be there.

I did a walk-by of the jetties Saturday as the sun went down. I saw the Scuba Shop group start their dive and waited for them to come out. They weren't real talkative about the dive but did say it was not clear until you got pretty deep. The water did look a little hazy from the surface and the double high tides don't flush much water in and out of the pass. They were diving the double because of the low current. I've found viz to be so-so on the double high tides in the past. I'd rather take chances with a little more current than the lower chance of good viz. If there is low flow from the flood plain up north and calm gulf the chance of good viz on a double high tide day increases. I sure wouldn't turn down a dive on a double day if I was in one of those "dry gill" times by any means.

Well our dives on the jetties yesterday were fantastic. Saw a ton of neat stuff. Got home late last night and was tired. Will do a full report at work today and post it this afternoon. Got some good pictures too. Too bad Yoda is so spoiled. The conditions at the jetties, however bad, were a hundred times better than Vortex (which I can dive blindfolded) or Lake Martin.
