Two new Open Water divers are looking info on Destin diving between 3/30 - 4/2.

Sounds like local shops are not running on regular basis yet and looking for options with local diving club or individuals in case boat is cancelled. Also info on water temperatures and places for shore diving options.

Thanks

You've got two saltwater shore dive locations for Destin. The Jetties and Crystal Beach Pier pilings. The Jetties is a great dive, but it's a "small hike" in gear to get there. The pier pilings is a good place to burn the last 500-800psi of your tank out. It's a very shallow dive that you pretty much could just snorkle. You rarely see people dive there anymore because it's gotten shallow.

To dive the Jetties, send a PM to SeaYoda. He's the local Scubaboard Destin Jetties expert (a.k.a All-wet-jetty-jedi). He's off sometimes during the week and ws the one who took me diving at the Jetties and is a good "guide". FYI, they are dredging at the Jetties now, so being able to dive there kinda changes as the week goes along.

You'll want to dive the Jetties at "high tide" for the best vis.

For more "inland" shore diving opportunities, you've got Vortex Springs and Morrison Springs about an hour north of Destin.

hope that all helps some. -Mike
