Desert Diver?! Hi from Arizona

Hi All,

My name is Ike, I am 23, and I've been interested in diving for a long time but never took the plunge. I've recently had a big change in my life; I am excited to learn all I can, and make a splash!

I look forward to reading the threads from this site, and will be signing up for my first Open Water course this week.

If there are any tips on gear or anything I need to prepare for in advance I'd really appreciate the guidance.

SB is a huge resource and can answer just about any question you have. Using the search bar, you'll probably find that others have already asked the same questions. Don't let that stop you from asking though. There are a lot of very experienced and knowledgable active members that are more than willing to help.

Adam, I'm in Northern Phoenix, just a little ways south of Lake Pleasant. I've been to Tucson loads of times though, are you going to UA or is that where you're from?

Looks like I'm going to be taking my classroom courses starting mid August, but I probably won't be in the water until September sometime. People dive all year round in Arizona, right?
