What kind of oil is used in a depth gauge, like US Divers and SOS depth gauges from the 50's and 60's?

I've used mineral oil and the procedure for filling was similar to the one in the link below except I submerged the gauge while filling.
Compass bubble repair

I just used some lamp oil to refill a depth gauge and compass but haven't taken them diving yet. I also have a bourdon tube depth gauge that was directly exposed to the sea water and always got clogged so I'm putting it in a housing with lamp oil. I submerged it in the oil overnight and it didn't seem to hurt the luminous paint on the dial.

I need to build a pressure tank.

yes the pharmacy has oil ive used 20 -30 times
