Hi everyone,
I'm going to the bahamas this coming weekend (can't wait!! it will be my first ocean dive since I got certified) Anyway, I wanted to ask a few questions.

1. I'm signing up for DEPP insurance. Now, for flooded items, I am going to put my camera and dive computer. Should my housing be put into this category? There are no electronics on the housing, so I am thinking it would just be ok under the regular, no flood section. Is this correct?

2. On the DEPP forms, there is a section for unit retail and total retail. Whats the difference in these?

3. Is there any special way to pack scuba equip. for airplanes? Its only going to be a 40 min. puddlehopper from ft. lauderdale to the bahamas. Should I just carry on my reg , computer and camera and pack the rest away in a suitcase?

Thanks for any help!

Correct. If your housing floods, just wash it in clear fresh water and dry it thoroughly/

I don't have a form in front of me but unit total should mean each item, and total retail is the total of all items. If you call them at 888/678-4096, they will gladly answer any questions you have and will walk you through the process.

3. Is there any special way to pack scuba equip. for airplanes? Its only going to be a 40 min. puddlehopper from ft. lauderdale to the bahamas. Should I just carry on my reg , computer and camera and pack the rest away in a suitcase?

Yes, that's what I would do. You could actually pack your reg, as you could easily rent one at most any dive operation should your get misplaced. If you use a prescription mask, I'd pack that.= in carry-on.

Thanks Dee,
I forgot one more question..
Should I bring weights with me on the plane, or do the boats have them to use?

You don't need to travel with weights, the boats or the dive op will have tanks and weights. Some places include them in the price, some don't so I'd check to be sure.

I sometimes do travel with weights, though. I prefer soft weights and most dive ops use hard weights. So I'll sometimes take a few soft ones to cushion the hard ones!

I hope you tip the skycaps.

:moving: "Hey lady....what do you got...lead in these bags or somethin'?"
