I have a D4i and it does not have a rechargeable battery. Like it was stated above the standard battery is good for 200 dives or 2 years, my first batter lasted only 1. You only plug it in to download your dives to your computer. As for issues after battery changes then that is your clue. The question is what happened to cause it and you answered it. Take it back and have them do it again. Or if you are tech savvy and don't care for warranties do it yourself.
