Both the video and the manual say I need to remove the winding knob to use the DP200 with the easy grip adaptor. Why?

It seems to work fine with it in place and makes reeling in the line much more reel-like and less spool-like, all while avoiding the bulk of the reel handle. Is the concern that a running line could get caught on the knob without the reel handle's line guide? That seems... unlikely.
