Yeah but this was an AGM, not one with the un-clipping oral/nasal. Maybe he had a quick-disc. on the hoses? Pop the backgas hose off, pop on the deco gas.....?

Could have had a manifold block that would allow you to switch gasses. I thought I saw a standard reg on the bottle though.

Well, how tough would it be for a guy with John Chatterton's experience to take a breath and pull the FFM off and grab his stage reg in one motion, then grab a spare mask put it on and clear it? In an emergency, that might be a little tricky, but to change from bottom gas to deco gas, he should be able to do that in his sleep. We all should be able to do it.

Since I have never worn a FFM, YES I am assuming several things. I may be wrong.

I wouldn't be worried about the switchover, it would be the shock of the cold water that would worry me. Cold water hitting a warm face (warm because of the FFM) can cause a gasp reflex, causing inhalation of water. Of course with practice, this would become a non-issue.

Anyone here who knows Mr. Chatterton and could ask him?

That was a good show. I wonder, would someone be able to make a profit retrieving the oil from wrecks and then selling it? I imagine the costs would be really high, just curious. Sure would be nice to get that stuff out of the ocean though.

I can show you how to make a quick Million $$ doing it.
