I am considering a pair of Deep 6 fins primarily for the orange color so my students can more easily identify me by my fins. Plus they have spring straps which I like.

The question is - they basically look like Jets. Are they as heavy as Jets? How does the foot pocket sizing compare to Jets?

they're neutrally ish buoyant, and much stiffer than jet fins. I greatly prefer them. The foot pocket is more ergonomically designed compared to the jet fins. I can't fit in anything smaller than the XXL so am not sure about how the smaller sizes compare

Unfortunately, they are not that bright an orange underwater. Yes, you can see they are orange/brown, but it is not a florescent color like some oranges/fins. Other fins are more visible underwater.

correct, if you want best viz, Scubapro Jet Fins are in white

Stiffer? I held one (size L, and I understand the material used in one of the sizes is different than the material in other sizes) in my hand last week, and it was not as stiff as the XL Jet fin I had in my other hand. The tip of the Eddy was somewhat thinner and more flexible than the Jet.

The rounded foot pocket seems like it will be great for wetsuit booties. As far as sizing, it seemed like the L Eddy would fit my size 9 foot in a wetsuit bootie well enough, though I was wearing a drysuit at the time I ran into the guy with the Eddys, so I couldn't actually try that. For comparison, my drysuit boot fits the XL Jet.

I don't know about buoyancy in water, but the L Eddy is much lighter in air than the XL Jet, that's for sure. It's going to become my travel/wetsuit fin. I'll keep using the Jets for drysuit.

did you have the soft compound? i think mine are both the original hard compound

That's the thing--I don't know. As I understand it, presently, which compound the fin is made of varies with size. But that may have changed from previously, and may change again in the future. You may know more than I do in this regard.

I will be using my Eddy Fin L in St. Martin all next week. I will let you fools know how awesome they are. :) I have only used them on two dives so far and both were in fresh water in backmount doubles and I felt like they did not give me the same power I was getting from my SEAC GP100s. I now also have some DiveRite XTs and have moved over to sidemount. What I have not done is swapped back to my Eddys in sidemount to see if that helps with the feeling of "power". But I will be single tank rec diving while on vacation and the Eddys are the only ones I would travel with.

I have both soft and standard versions of the eddys in multiple sizes. I would say the soft is thinner then a jet, but in the water the characteristics are extremely similar... though the eddy is MUCH lighter and ever so slightly positive in freshwater. The standard stiffness is notably stiffer than the jets. If you can't immediately tell that the fin is stiffer than a jet, you have the soft variant.

Also, Chris can correct me if I'm wrong.... but I believe the soft model only comes on black at the moment.
