I'm currently getting gear together for deco bottle and was wondering if this SPG would be okay (I realize it needs to be O2 prepared). It's a plastic oceanic.
Any assistance appreciated.

Yes, your Oceanic SPG would be Ok. I have been using a very similar SPG on one of my deco bottle and it work just fine. Of course a brass housings would resist impact a much better.

cheers

Yes, I use PSI and I know I need a 6-8 inch hose. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't going to need to purchase a new SPG.

Thanks people,
Jason

Any SPG would work fine as long as you can read it. Everything needs to be 02 cleaned if using richer than 40% 02 of course. Some people use a short hose, some people bungie the hose to the tank as they do the reg. I have a standard SPG hose length and bungie it to the tank. I like to pull it out in front of me when I am doing my deco stops.

It might work for a while. Myself, I would stay away from a gauge with plastic housing and spend the extra cash for a solid brass one.

everything I've read recommends plastic gauge on deco bottle. I have this sitting around collecting dust so I thought I'd look into using it. I understand that a brass gauge would be more durable....I thought it was a weight issue. Should I just purchase a new brass gauge or is the plastic gauge (no boot) okay?

Make sure you O2 clean your mask as well...I hate to see you exhale through your nose and inadvertently blow your head off.
