Having been to Azores (San Miguel and Pico) and Red Sea (albeit never did the Egypt south, only Egypt north route, Marsa Alam and Sudan) I would say it depends on what you want to see experience.

San Miguel was ok diving and the dives with blue sharks and trip to Princess Alice’s Banks were very special (although the trip to PAB was not the most safe, nor the most well organised we’ve ever done). Food and wine was amazing.

But still I would say the south Egypt route has a potential to be way better (and considerably warmer) than Azores.

My only concern for southern red sea would be water temperature that time of the year.

I did the deep south route first week of September 2024, water temperature read 32C. We went down to 40m at Daedalus, and spotted some hammerheads probably 30m deeper (70m?). Apparently they're not fans of water that warm.

Great diving spots though
