We've been looking at Cozumel for a December 2010 trip but we're starting to think Roatan might be a viable option as well.

Can anyone let me know what kind of weather we could expect there in December?

Thanks

Bob (Toronto)

You will be in the "rainy" season. I put the word in quotes because while it is typically very rainy at that time, there may very well be days where it only rains part of the day or not at all..or it may rain nonstop. It's really hard to judge. Also, the north side of the island tends to get more choppy while the south side of the island is much calmer at that time. I suggest you ask the dive resorts how they deal with diving during the winter season. Some of the resorts on the north side moor their boats on the south side and will shuttle you over there. I have been to Roatan every month of year except for December and have had a great time. Just do a little checking beforehand and enjoy the island! It's a beautiful place.

Expect rain, it is the rainy season with December historically having more rain than any month other than November, If it doesn;t rain then consider it a bonus.

We went for three straight Decembers...although it is the "rainy season", I think we only got two days of rain in those three trips.

As Forrest Gump would say..."life is like a box of chocolates - you never know what you're gonna get!"

One thing I can tell you for certain, whether it rains or not, it will be warm and beautiful in Roatan :D
