Hi,

I will be diving with two buddies of mine in La Parguera, Puerto Rico from December 26-30, 2012. If you're interested, PM me. I've been going to La Parguera at this time for the past several years and have enjoyed it.

Thanks!

I'm jealous. We were in PR a couple of years ago, and stayed in Rincon. Dove a couple of days on Desecheo, and then drove down to La Parguera to dive one day. Feel like we should have reversed it, as we really loved the diving on the wall.

Can you tell me what dive shop you will be using?

Hi Lbj40,

We are going to aim for West Divers. They have a good boat. They require four to go out (or three willing to pay extra). I am currently planning to dive from December 26-30. My two friends are planning to dive December 27-30. We are planning to make our reservations in October since most shops in that area do not plan that far in advance. We'll know more as it gets closer.

Thanks for your inquiry. Feel free to ask more questions!

We dove with West Divers when we went (I think it was three years ago), and understand that there may be a different group of folks there now. PR is on our short list for either 2013 or 2014, and hoping to identify a shop in La Parguera prior to that.

Looking forward to hearing about your experience. We loved the diving on the wall, and can't wait to get back.

Thanks!

I heard Mona Island is pretty awesome. Will you guys be heading out there?

Mona island is several hours by boat west of Rincon. One of the liveaboards used to go there. I am not sure if they still do. We will be in La Parguera, on the southern side of the island diving and diving the walls in that area.

Island Scuba in Guanica. Pedro runs a great dive operation. They go out every day. Their location is just ten minutes from diving the wall.

I dove with an op in Guanica a few years ago. We really enjoy staying in La Parguera and the convenience of the restaurants and hotels. It's a bit of a trek to wake up early and then drive down to the shop when the dock in La Parguera is right next to the hotel we use. So, we are hoping West Divers works out this year. If not, we may use Paradise Scuba & Snorkling.

My boyfriend and I are going to Puerto Rico to dive in late January then over to St. Croix for a week. I am a new diver and was wondering if you had to deal with strong currents while diving on the wall off the south shore. I have heard there is some good shore diving from along the southwest shore and out of La Paguera over to Guanica. Can you recommend a shop that rents out tanks/weights and does tank fills that are convenient to the beaches? When I get more experienced, Mona Island and Desecheo are on my dream list..... everything I have found on the internet says the diving is spectacular, but for intermediate to advanced divers. Mona Island is remote and you have to camp or do a liveaboard.

I haven't found the currents to be overly strong by the wall. We have had beginner divers with us on several occasions with no problems. The water is often fairly calm, but it can be choppy if there is wind.
