DC1400....first uw camera...yes or no?

You want the strobes. While you should nice pictures in Roatan without a strobe you need to set the white balance. With a strobe there is a quick "settings" feature you can easily set the strobe and never have to mess with the WB.

Keep in mind that since you are shooting digital you can take a million pictures of the same thing while only using battery power. The more pictures you take of the same thing means more chances to get that perfect picture we all strive to take. Good buoyancy so both you and the subject (fish?!) aren't moving at the same time helps the focus. Flashes really help and then you can take pictures at night. A whole different cast of characters come out at night to see and photograph.
