Hi all

Need your expert/tried and testet advice again, please.

I just booked our flights to Jakarta (CGK) with Emirates July 2025, and looking to fly CGK-SOQ with Garuda - seems like it's the best/most reliable and recommended option.

As we arrive 10.15 pm, I've booked 2 nights in FM7 hotel, to recover a bit from jet lag, get some rest and massage (what I remember most about this hotel is the fab massage we had - back in 2014 LOL), then take the night flight to Sorong arriving 6.15 am - and hope to catch the Waisai ferry at 9 am - is this doable?

On our return we're arriving CGK 10.10 am and our flight is 12.40 am - for this I was looking for a day room option. I've contacted FM7 directly and their quote is close to 2 nights stay - and includes breakfast, which I assume we won't make anyway.

Does anyone know of a place close to CGK, that offers day rooms? Or maybe just a pool pass? Just thought I should maybe check other places, before I book with FM7:-)

Thanks

For the Jakarta lay over: there is a hotel in the airport complex but I think it's on the pricey side.

If you don't mind capsules, there are those in the airport.

Some other hotels that might be lower priced than FM7 near the airport are Amaris, Swiss Belinn and Ibis. FM7 is nicer though, maybe you could negotiate for an early check in (by the time you arrive it would be closer to noon, and that's if there's no flight delay).

Thanks! Didn’t think of just booking a room for 1 night, then turn up early.
Had a look at the airport hotel, and that could also do.

@outofofficebrb occasionally uses CJK on her Indonesian trips and might know of a comfortable place to spend a few hours.

Great info- thank you!
Is that the Jakarta airport hotel? Did you use any services and how was it?
Correct. I found the room service food to be just what I wanted. Room was very nice. They have a breakfast buffet included but you will not make that.

The train between terminals may stop at ?9pm but you can also take a cab.

I have also stayed at FM7 once and I found just staying at the airport is easier.

It is about a 10 minute cab ride from airport in Sorong to the Waisai ferry. Sorong is a small town. A bunch of people on your flight will be grabbing cabs to the ferry, plenty of time.

This is very doable and similar to what I did in December 2023. I stayed at FM7 pre-liveaboard to get over jetlag. The breakfast buffet was impressive and the massage was awesome! You'll have plenty of time to make the ferry. The 9 a.m. ferry didn't leave until 9:40, but I had heard that the ferry is always late. I highly recommend the first class ticket on the ferry. First class doesn't mean the same thing in Asia. What it means is that you have a reserved seat (not a bench) and poorly working air conditioning. The coach (or what is called the cheapest) seat is a free-for-all bench seat with standing room only for the overflow of people with butts and armpits in your face. There is no air conditioning.

On the return, I booked one night at Jakarta Airport Hotel. My flight was the next morning. The food was good and the hotel was pleasant. I didn't use any hotel services. The convenience of going from the hotel room to the terminal was worth the extra bucks. They offer free shuttle between terminals. It took surprisingly long, 15 minutes, to get to the next terminal, because you have to drive in zigzags around the airport to get there.
