Interesting critters and great pics :D One of these days we're gonna get 1 foot seas while we're visiting Key Largo!

The wind has been non stop! Anytime it lays down we run out there

Glad to hear the water's staying fairly warm this late into the year. My first & only Florida Keys trip was Key Largo back in September; I wanted warm water and (fairly) reliably calm weather, and I got it.

Judging from what I've been reading since, it's cooler and the weather is very 'iffy' once you hit late November and onward. Wonder what time of year it gets warm and very probably calm & dive-able again?

I speak as someone who'd fly down & needs a very high probability of not getting blown out my bad weather the few days I'd be down.

Cool bristleworm, by the way.

Richard.

The summer is usually the best. This summer was kind of iffy though

Richard, we got blown out in July and blown out again in November! We dove a couple of times in 4-6' seas and had a couple of decent days, but we also had a few completely cancelled :depressed: That's not normal for Key Largo. In the past 10 years, we had never had that happen before. Unfortunately, there's no way to control the weather.

Next year we're holding the Cajun Invasion in June...hoping NetDoc is going to order up some "Chamber of Commerce" weather for us!

It's exciting to be able to see/photograph an :eek:ctopus: !

Great shots! Was that a mantis shrimp? I love a good shot of a sharpnose puffer. Haven't been in the water in a month. WAH!

Yes I think it is. I got lucky with those 2 pics because my camera housing fogged up a minute later

I am not much of a photog. That said, I have spent about 25 entire dives trying to get a good shot of a sharpnose, for my efforts I have about 2 good photos. I think they are the cutest little guys. They always look worried like my Chihuahuas. I have only ever seen one mantis shrimp at the BHB.
