It just doesn't suprise me to think that people are that stupid. I agree we should protect the wildlife and the gene pool. Let the morons pet the pretty fishies :jaws: or better yet tell em to get a bit closer so I can take there picture SMILE :wallywink :jaws:
I wonder if any of the brain surgeons tried to hold up a peice of dead whale to see if the pretty fish will jump from the water and take it from their hand

"I am also appalled by the bizarre behavior of walking across the back of dead whales or, for that matter, patting a great white shark while it is feeding," Evans said
There is actually similar footage of "scientists" & pro photographers doing just this same thing (actually, can't remember if they petted the sharks...) Wish i could remember the program off the top of my head.

"These creatures are not toys. In the case of the great white, they can be extremely dangerous and it is clear the state government will need to look at changing the law in order to protect people too stupid to protect themselves," he added
PUH_LEEZE. Just what we need, more government meddling. You can't legislate against stupidity. Changing the law will not protect anyone...people who think this is ok to do now surely aren't going to stop and think "gee, I'd better not do this coz it's illegal". :shakehead I agree with all here who say let the sharks eat 'em!

More gov regs are not in order here!!! Just more bleach (in the gene pool).

Remember.........the more stupid others look and act the more normal it makes the rest of us look!!

I just tried to look up info on this and found out it happened back in 2001.

Tourists leap on dead whale, pat sharks
July 24, 2001 Posted: 11:53 AM EDT (1553 GMT)
ADELAIDE, Australia (AP) -- Australian tourism authorities may change laws
"to protect people too stupid to protect themselves" after sightseers
clambered on a floating dead whale and patted great white sharks eating the
carcass.</b>

Still the people are stupid, but why are we bringing up 3 year old news?

Jeff

any one have a link to the feeding frenzy.. from teh local news channels.. would love to see the action.. and by the way it's a shame nothing happened to the idiot to jumped on the whales back. culling out the dumb...and moronic... survival of the smartest..

Just what we all need, more government intrusion designed to the lowest common denominator to "protect us from ourselves".

Of course, all that these regulations accomplish is to interfere with the rest of us who do have a brain cell or two!

The instance of the pro photographer getting on the dead whale was played just before shark week. It was on "Air Jaws:Sharks of South Africa."
And you know what would have kept me off the the whale even more than the shark? It was three or four days dead and NASTY looking.
2001 documentary but I assume the Australia thing is newer.
Why legislate something like that? Let them do it and see what happens...

i'd love to see the law on that:

No person shall come aboard a dead whale while dangerous predators are
eating said whale, under penalty of $500.00 fine or imprisonment of up to
six months.

heck, if they're not scared of the sharks, they probably don't care about the
fine and the jail time.

Hey, if they people who wanna walk on a dead whale carcass wana be shark bait, who am I to tell them no?

Talk t their parentsabout right and wrong.
