what constitute "dangerous"

i know 2 divers that i suspect will die one day because of their actions & attitude to diving but hope desperately i am wrong

i also know one instructor that is an insulin dependant diabetic and in our country they shouldnt even be diving let alone teaching

i have known a diver who lied on their medicals to be giving diving certs (and car license) and a few years ago he nearly killed a family after a blackout while driving

unfortunately i worry about karma and if i was to dob people in, i worry about the reprecusions.

so what do you mean by "dangerous"?

I think dangerous is situation dependant, but all of your examples would fit the bill. Would you warn someone who was going to dive with them?

i have done so in the past - quitely in the right peoples ear and officially on paper

in one or 2 of the above i have done nothing as i dont know if i should - sticking your nose is someone elses business is a hard choice

I don't do anything publically but do mention it to friends. I only do this if someone has proven themselves truly dangerous. If it's a newer diver that is trying to learn, myself and other divers have no problem in buddying up with them at a quarry or shallower wreck site.

If you knew of a local diver who is dangerous, would you warn others about him/her?

dangerous as in carries 2 knives, both very sharp?

Uh...most of the "dangerous divers" in our PNW community become quickly known and divers politely "bow out" of diving and being a buddy to these divers. Some not fast enough.
I wouldn't dive with a dangerous diver in any extent. Don't have the time nor patience. Let them go their own way.

Great info from a fantastic diver/guide!!

Kirsten I will call you soon !

I would be interested in your opinion of whether divers with ill health constitute a dangerous diver.
A year ago I met a diver in his 60s on vacation, who was diving with a terminal cancer.
I have also dived with an old guy, that admitted that his eyesight was so poor he could no longer read his guages as we got suited up. I hadn't the heart to refuse to dive with him, but I did feel I was doing a solo dive.
Are these dangerous divers ?
