I have that one as well. I started with an Ocean Reef one that was not as long or wide. The one time I had to use it, (Actually the dive master asked me to use it when she brought us up a good distance from the boat), it took a while for the boat to see us, so I bought the larger. I also like the fact it gives you room to store a light stick and mirror, so you have a whole signal kit in one. Also, it has an overpressure valve, so you can shoot it form depth if you need to.

All around good investment.

I have the DAN signal buoy and used it a number of times over the last month. It is easy enough to deploy underwater - there are a couple of options for inflation. It is quite large and visible to a boat from a distance.

I agree with the others, my wife and both use them - they work very well.

DAN's SMB won on the Scuba Diving test.

I carry one.

I have a friend who uses a 10' carter SMB.

I have the DAN SMB and really like it. One thing to point out is that with the overpressure valve it has, it doesn't roll up as small as some other SMBs. I find that folding it rather than rolling it gets it as small as it can go. It's probably about 3 inches wide when stored folded.

is the DAN smb self sealing??? thats a feature i really like with mine
